Ossoff Triumphs in Georgia, but Not by Enough

Democrat Jon Ossoff came extraordinarily close to pulling off a seismic electoral feat Tuesday night in Georgia that would’ve been read as a brutal embarrassment to President Donald Trump.

But coming so close might’ve cost him a seat in Congress.

Although the top Democratic candidate for a vacant U.S. House seat in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District earned the most votes in the special election to replace former GOP Rep. Tom Price, Ossoff failed to clinch a majority of the vote. That means he’s been forced into an onerous two-month runoff campaign in which he’s bound to become a national target for roused Republicans.
